John Lennon’s first wife died in Spain – KM.RU

In Spain, in his own home on the island of Mallorca, 76, died the first wife of the famous “Beatle” John Lennon Cynthia Lennon.

The news of the death of Cynthia Lennon has published on its official website, her son Julian Lennon. The cause of death was cancer. “Julian was always next to her these days. The family thanks all for your prayers and requests to respect the right to privacy in these difficult times, “- said in a statement.

Cynthia Powell met future rock star during their college iskuss in Liverpool. In 1962, Cynthia became pregnant and John Lennon asked her to formalize their relationship. The couple married in August of the same year, and their firstborn – Julian, was born in April 1963.

Despite its status as the official wife of Lennon, Cynthia was kept in the shade, and many fans of The Beatles did not know that Lennon married. As later told Cynthia, their relationship began to deteriorate when the musician “hooked” on drugs, which adversely affected his character and state of mind. In 1968, Cynthia filed for divorce after her husband found in their home in the company of Yoko Ono.

In 1978, Cynthia Lennon published a book of memoirs about his life with the former “Beatle”. After the death of Cynthia Lennon gradually began selling their memorabilia at auction to improve their financial affairs. All her attempts to establish any kind of business, one way or another connected with the name of the deceased spouse, proved unsuccessful. She later admitted that all these ideas belonged to her husbands.

Cynthia Lennon tried to assert themselves and in the music industry, but also to no avail. Julian Lennon’s musical career was much more successful. In 2005, she released another biographical book about Lennon.
