In St. Petersburg, will open the monument to Sergei Dovlatov – BBC News

On Sunday, 4 September in St. Petersburg will open a monument to the writer Sergei Dovlatov, who the day before would have turned 75 years old. The ceremony will take place in the framework of dedicated writer Festival “D-Day”.

One of the installation of the monument to the initiators, the adviser of the city governor, the head of the TV channel “Saint-Petersburg” Sergei Boyarsky said that the monument agreed, but did not manage to legally arrange the procedure. The monument will be installed on the sidewalk in front of the house number 23 on the street Rubenstein, where Sergey Dovlatov lived. Previously, as an option for installation in the park on the corner of the alley and aspiring chef’s streets or on Zagorodny Prospekt.

Sergei Dovlatov was born in 1941 in Ufa, where his parents had been evacuated, reminds TASS. Three years later, the family returned to Leningrad. In 1978 Sergei Dovlatov emigrated to the United States, where he died in 1990 in New York.
