Hosts 6th Moscow Biennale, which will take place from 22 September to 1 November at the Exhibition Center, announced a program of the main project, and special guests, and urged members to seek compromise.
The Sixth Moscow Biennale, which will become the central event of the match performances and discussions, this time much has changed its structure, shattering the main project for the exhibition and oral parts. In a sense, it goes after Venice, held from May 9 to 22 November, the core of which turned out to be a public reading of “Capital” of Marx. Home, “event-driven” part will be in the first ten days and will be held from 22 September to 2 October. It will be followed the archives of the Moscow Biennale exhibition, the presentation of the work and the decisions to which the participants will come after ten days of discussion. In addition, on the basis of the book will be published and submitted documentary.
The motto of the current Biennale was the issue-call “How to live together? View from the city center in the heart of the island of Eurasia ».
The main project will take place in the central pavilion of the Exhibition of Economic Achievements. It is supervised by the Director of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Antwerp Bart de Bara, Defne Ayas, who heads the Center for Contemporary Art Witte de With in Rotterdam, and Nicolaus Schaffhausen – the director of the Kunsthalle in Vienna.
«Of course, we think not only about how to enter into the history and branded innovators. I could name a thousand commercial and practical reasons why we decided to concentrate the main program in the ten days, – says Bart de Bar. – The idea is not to focus on specific problems and on what can actually be done. Therefore, we focused on real communication and human relations. It is particularly important that such a meeting will happen right now, and it is in Moscow.
We can live as enemies, but we still need to seek common ground.
And I’m not just talking about government decisions I’m talking about people who are looking for a compromise. ”
Documentation of discussions and performances will be shown from 2 October to 1 November. “For us, more important than the creation of an internal than external consumption of art – explains Defne Ayas. – This Biennale is indeed a radical reversal, because the first time we decided to show how you can provide human interaction, and find out what it will bring us. This is absolutely unprecedented project. ”
In total, the Moscow Biennale will bring together more than eighty artists and theorists, among them Janis Varufakis, former Finance Minister of Greece,
famous works on the cultural economy, and Saskia Sassen, a leading sociologist and expert on globalization. Along with other experts, they will discuss what are the grounds for a better life, for that would be like Moscow in the future and how through which concepts should identify themselves – the city, the nation or empire.
The special guests of the Biennale will perform Alexander Ponomarev, who will present their project in the Pushkin Museum. AS Pushkin, and the Israeli artist Michal Rovner, was exhibited in the Multimedia Art Museum. MMSI present Andrey Bartenev, Peter Weibel and Jiri David Museum in Moscow – Alexander Brodsky, and Museum of Modern Art “Garage” – Louise Bourgeois.
In summary, Nicolaus Schaffhausen said that the current Biennale has an opportunity to lay the foundations of a new project: “Today, there are many institutions, such as the Museum of Contemporary Art” Garage, “for example, which produces cultural product. But the man there is never left alone with the art. It is then mediated by people explaining the art lectures and excursions. We do quite differently. ”
