The artistic director of the Russian State Theatre on Pokrovka Sergey Artsibashev died on the 64th year of life. This is stated in a message on the site of the theater.

According to the interlocutor of Interfax in the theater, the cause of death was a cancer.
Artsibashev finished Sverdlovsk Theatre School and GITIS, where he studied in the studio of Maria Knebel . In 1989 he became the chief director of the Moscow theater comedy, which in 1991 was reorganized into the Russian State Theatre on Pokrovka. From 2002 to 2011 led Artsibashev Theater. Mayakovsky.
As an actor, movie Artsibashev played more than 20 roles, mostly anecdotal, but almost always remembered his sharp specificity. As a director Artsibashev staged more than 40 productions in theaters in Russia and abroad. In 2005, he became a People’s Artist of the Russian Federation, and in 2009 was awarded the Medal of Honor Artsibashev.
