Samuel Lurie was a man of astonishing literary talent and impeccable civil behavior. So remembers him by his friend, the writer Viktor Shenderovich: “Samuel Lurie was a man of irreproachable conduct and civil striking literary talent.”

Samuel Lurie made his debut as a critic in the magazine “Star” in 1964. It was published in newspapers and magazines in Russia and abroad and is the author of about a thousand publications in periodicals.
Lurie is a member of the Academy of Russian contemporary literature, since 2001 he is a member of the editorial board of the magazine “Herald of Europe XXI Century”, a member of the Jury of the Andrei Sakharov Prize “For Journalism as a Deed” Russian Booker Prize.
