The State Duma passed a bill to extend the free privatization until March 1, 2017, according to data of the automated system of maintenance of legislative activity. Parliamentarians at the meeting of February 24 voted for the bill in the first reading and as a whole. Under current law, free housing privatization can be until March 1, 2016.

The bill was sent to the State Duma on February 18. The authors of the initiative stressed that the amendments to the law will contribute to the realization of the constitutional rights of citizens to housing.

The newspaper “Kommersant” reported earlier that the ministry did not support the idea of ​​the extension of free privatization of housing, because it leads to the disposal of premises of social use of the fund, while like one of the tasks of government is to keep the municipal housing stock for the needs of socially vulnerable citizens.
