John Robert Cocker was born in 1944 in Sheffield. Dropped out of school, he seriously took up music. In 1960 Cocker toured the UK with several bands performing in the style of rhythm and blues.

The wide fame came to Cocker in 1968, when his version of the executable Beatles song With a Little Help from my Friends was on the top of the UK charts.

In the 1970s – 1980s, Coker was the author of several hits. In 1975, he first appeared at the top of the American charts with the song You Are So Beautiful. For the song Up Where We belong, which became part of the soundtrack for the film “An Officer and a Gentleman,” which he sang with Jennifer Warnes, the Briton won the prestigious American award “Grammy».

This was followed by hits such as You Can Leave Your Hat On (heard in the movie “9 ½ Weeks” with Mickey Rourke and Kim Basinger). In 1987 there was one of the most successful from a commercial point of view albums Cocker Unchain My Heart.

In the 2000s Cocker often spoke at a reception in honor of Queen Elizabeth II, performing their hits as well as songs Beatles.

In 2013, Cocker gave a tour of Europe as part of the promotion of their final album Fire Up To. He visited including Moscow and St. Petersburg.

The last big concert Joe Cocker took place in London in June.
