Krzysztof Zanussi admitted that he feels the pressure from the Polish authorities because of his warm relations with Russia.
– The fact that politicians do, it is their language, their business – quoted the director TASS. – And for me, as a man of culture, dialogue is necessary. And we need it to continue, in spite of all political conflicts and tension. If we are not to exchange views, then the connection will be lost at all.
According to Zanussi, he gave Poland firmly understand that it will continue and further more to come to Russia and take part in joint projects – it angered the authorities.
– Of course, in Poland scold me, – says the director. – But I do remember that not just once or twice in my life was going against society. Happens, life proves – I was right. Pressure on me there, but we must have the strength to stand and resist this pressure.
He said he did not intend to interrupt the creative relations with Ukraine.
– We are bound by old traditions, they are our neighbors, we lived together for many years, it is impossible to erase. Of course, between us, too, had some conflicts, but it is a useful history – Zanussi said, noting that it plans a joint Polish-Ukrainian project – a film about the First World War.
