“Leviathan” was in schort list “Oscar” – On the eve

A film by Andrei Zvyagintsev “Leviathan” was short-list the category “Best Foreign Language Film” award “Oscar”, the list published on the website award.

Earlier, the “Leviathan” and his cameraman Michael Krichman received “golden frog”, the main prize cinematography “Kamerimidzh” in Poland. The same film won a prize at the Cannes Film Festival for Best Screenplay and won the London and Munich Film Festival.

Leviathan “- kinointerpretatsiya history of the biblical character Job filed in modern Russia. Starring Alexei Serebryakov and Elena Liadov. Above new fantasy flick Zvyagintsev worked almost exactly the same crew that over the previous one, “Elena”: camera work carried out Michael Krichman, music – Philip Glass.

The main character, Nikolai (Alexei Serebryakov), lives in a small town near the Barents Sea, in the cabin of a small bay, where whales swim times. When the corrupt mayor of the city (Roman Madyanov) tries to seize almost all the property of Nicholas – house, car and his own land – the protagonist enlists the aid of an old friend in the army, now a respected lawyer Dmitry (Vladimir Vdovichenkov), which defines a unique way of dealing with politics – to find an incriminating slaughter.
