EU leaders promise until strengthen sanctions against Russia – TVNZ

At the EU summit, it was decided to refrain from imposing new sanctions against Russia. This was stated by the president of France Francois Hollande .

– The decision to tighten sanctions do not accept, because they should not have been, as now, the process of settling in Ukraine – Hollande said. – Easing of sanctions will depend on the statement we have made

The final summit communique said that the situation in eastern Ukraine remains “a source of serious concern”.

– The sanctions were imposed for certain reasons, and may be canceled only if those reasons disappear, – explained the position of the head of the European states Merkel . – The EU considers the Ukrainian crisis as a strategic challenge.

Let us recall the United States and the European Union have imposed sanctions against ten packets Russian politicians and businessmen, because they do not recognize the annexation of Crimea to Russia, and continue to accuse Moscow of interfering in the affairs of Ukraine. Russia calls the accusations unacceptable.

Despite promises not to aggravate the situation, the EU agreed on a new package of sanctions against the Crimea, which can be applied at any time. Under the new sanctions EU citizens and companies do not have the right to buy real estate or companies in the Crimea, Crimean finance companies and provide them with services.
