British BBC One began airing a 6-part series on “War and Peace» – RSUTE

In the British television channel BBC One begins by showing the series “War and Peace.” This six series adaptation of the popular novel by Leo Tolstoy. Modern film adaptation was not very pleased the audience as the show practically corresponds to the plot of the book.

The director, who was entrusted to take “War and Peace” openly admitted that he had never read the book. But after received the offer, he read it and only it. He read the novel several times in different translations, listening to an audio book, watched the earlier movies. When he wrote the draft version of the script of the film, then he said that his show – a version of the book “War and Peace” to those who have never read.

But the main star for the Russian and the American audience has become obviously , yet the former heroine of the cult TV series “The X-Files’ Gillian Anderson, who in” War and Peace “was entrusted the role of Anna Pavlovna Scherer.

The movie War And Peace exciting shows battle scenes, and its main artist and costume designers meticulously studied the archives, in order to historically scrupulous show uniforms and combat equipment of Russian and French armies, as well as everyday signs of those days: fashion, coach, casual dress …

But the main task of the film, according to Andrew Davies is still in the other. “War and Peace” – is an exciting, funny and heartbreaking story of love, war and family life “- expressed it the opinion of one of the most important novels of Russian literature of the nineteenth century.

And immediately told about the the main problem: “The heroes of the book – is so natural and relevant to the present day, that the viewer will be interesting to compare and identify with them …” And said that this film – “for people who themselves have never read Leo Tolstoy …”

It seems that this is why Andrew Davies and allowed himself some liberties inconsiderate towards the novel. In particular, I decided that the relationship between brother and sister Kuragino it “is weak, so the first time around it is easy to overlook.” That is why, for greater effect, I can even say – screen “yellow”, considered that “these relations are extremely important for the understanding of these characters … and it certainly should be displayed on the screen” … Therefore, to make the show more impressive to the untrained English spectator Andrew Davis even willfully finished the episodes on this theme in his script ….

But the British press claims that in its current form, the show will be a hit British TV. And encourage the audience to read the novel “War and Peace”. By the way the first film series shown on BBC ONE TV channel yesterday, January 3. The television program was still stated that he filmed “based on the novel by Leo Tolstoy,” so as not to surprise the educated Englishmen who love this great book and no freestyle “Adaptation” screenwriter Davis ….
