Modest “Ida” swallow our powerful hydra “Leviathan” – TVNZ

European Film Academy Awards (commonly Euro-Oscars) are presented annually in one of the European capitals. This year’s ceremony was held in Riga.

Among the candidates for honorary stutuetku in the main category “Best Film” was the best European films of the outgoing year, sounded loudly in the office and at international film festivals.

«Nymphomaniac. Redux version » – a five-hour sexual provocation by Lars von Trier, the projection of his personal and directing complexes on the already familiar to him branching novelistic form.

« Ida » Paul Pawlikowski – a modest, compact, black-and-white Polish retrodrama about a young Catholic nun, has experienced identity crisis just before leaving the monastery. It turned out that in fact the girl named Anna is not, and Ida, and she was Jewish by birth. Having escaped the Holocaust, Ida did not become him. Blame someone or thank?

«Force Majeure» – a paradoxical drama excellent Swedish director Ruben Ostlund put the question bluntly: what would you do in an emergency descent avalanches from the mountain? Rushed to save the children or your iPhone? The correct answer is: I do not know. Because it only seems to you that you know how to have behaved. Did not know that the protagonist of the film, in all respects positive young man, shamefully fled from the terrace of the hotel, leaving his wife and two children, but of course, not forgetting the iPhone. Well, how do you want to live with? The authors are not without pride, report that after watching the film, many viewers have an overwhelming desire to get a divorce.

«Hibernation» Turk Nuri Bilge Ceylan – victor of the Cannes Film Festival, meditative and poetic reflection on the Thread rottenness Turkish intellectuals, full loftiness, beautiful stamps and other arthouse and dialogues based on AP Chekhov. Also available: Landscape in the Mist, a lone figure in it, crying woman in the window and – where without it? – Wild white horse, hobbled initially, but then released to freedom.

«Leviathan» – best film by Andrei Zvyagintsev, taut crime drama, which contains the most rigid social criticism in the domestic film since the “Cargo 200″. But if the “Load …” was like a “past”, the “Leviathan” did not hesitate to take the day without fear have the charges against him in opportunism.

The absolute triumph of “Euro-Oscar” was the Polish “Ida”: she got statuettes for best film, best director, best screenplay and cinematography. Won “Ida” and the popular vote, and this is evidence of a vast and inclusive of success. Hopefully, it will start with the revival of Polish cinema – once one of the best in Europe in recent years has gone into deep shadow.

The Russian “Leviathan”, now collecting prizes all over the world, has been a major competitor “Ida”, but complex novel constructions Zvyagintsev evroakademiki prefer harsh simplicity Pawlikowski. None of the above films have not received any “Euro-Oscar”, which is very unfair. Next clash powerful “Leviathan” with the subtle but insidious unexpectedly “Ida” will be held at the “Golden Globe”, where they come together again in one category – “Best Foreign Language Film.” And there to present “Oscars” close.

The best evroaktrisoy named Marion Cotillard for “Two days and one night” Dardenne brothers – in this film laureate of “Oscar” portrayed factory workers on the verge of a nervous breakdown and firing. Save her character can only be a secret vote our colleagues: they must choose between her and a small but pleasant bonus of one thousand euro. Needless to say, devoid of any proletarian solidarity Belgian workers instinctively inclined towards money?

Award for Best Actor how predictably, and rightly so went to Timothy Spall, starred in the famous English classics Mike Leigh’s even more outstanding classics William Turner. In the performance of fine actor anticipating abstraction «Mr. Turner” looks grumpy, raunchy half-animal – one of the mounting gluing Lee Turner likens frankly pig. If we forget for a second that the screen is recognized by all the great painter, whose exhibitions worldwide queues, before the eye of the innocent spectators of which are so worried cultural officials, Lee will appear in the film is the most amoral monster that his simple-minded viewer constantly scare. Strange, half-decayed, gnilozuboe being tricked out of himself frantically art – clearly against the background of degenerative sublime works of other authors.

European Open 2014 Ukrainian named director Miroslav Slaboshpitsky for his debut «Tribe» – tough social drama unfolding in a boarding school for the deaf and for this reason is completely devoid of dialogue. This choice has become one of the most indisputable, though obvious solutions European Film Academy.

HISTORY “EURO OSCAR»

The European brother “Oscar” has been awarded since 1988 year. It was in this year in Berlin was founded by the European Film Academy, concerned propaganda film of the Old World and now unites about 2,300 filmmakers from all over the continent. They also voted for the main continental kinopriz. The first president of the Academy was Ingmar Bergman, in 1996, took Wim Wenders. Film Academy annually awards the prizes in all major cinematic nominations. First prize was called “Felix” – in honor of the Cannes cafe where Wenders associates came up with the idea to create a happy European equivalent of the “Oscar”. But the name “Felix” did not last long. Soon the award was renamed the European Film Academy Prize, and in common parlance – Euro-Oscar. Its laureates in the main nomination for “Best European Film” became over the years such films as “Short Film About Killing” Krzysztof Kieślowski an d “Life is Beautiful” Roberto Benigni, “Breaking the Waves” and “Dancer in the Dark” by Lars von Trier, ” Amelie “Jean-Pierre Jeunet,” Head On “by Fatih Akin and” Gomorrah, “Matteo Garrone,” Talk to Her “and” All About My Mother “by Pedro Almodovar,” The White Ribbon “and” Hidden “by Michael Haneke …. The awards are presented every other year at the headquarters of the European Film Academy – Berlin.

ON OUR “EURO Oscar»

The biggest crop of European awards our filmmakers collected during perestroika. In 1989, screenwriter Maria Khmelik received the award for “Little Faith”. In 1990, won the award for “Best Actor” was Dmitry Singers for their work in the epic Gleb Panfilov “Mother” and “European writer of the year” – Vitali Kanevsky literary basis for his famous painting “Freeze, Die, arise.” Kanev and was named “European Discovery of the Year”, and then the Union of Cinematographers received an honorary prize for the collective activity of condemning its present leadership. In 1993, the award was still referred to as “Felix” has found its hero in the face of Nikita Mikhalkov. He was noted for his film “Urga”. In 1996, for the scenario of “Prisoner of the Caucasus” rewarded by Sergei Bodrov and co-workers, and in 2003 the “discovery of the year” has been called R 20;The Return” by Andrei Zvyagintsev. Since then, European figurines Russian is no longer received.

It is interesting that most of Russia on the “Euro-Oscars” were cameramen. Nominations received operator Sergei Trofimov for “Mongol” by Sergei Bodrov, Michael Krichman for “The Banishment” by Andrei Zvyagintsev Maxim Drozdov and Alisher Hamidhodzhaev for “Paper Soldier” by Alexei German Jr., Pavel Kostomarov for “How I Ended This Summer” by Alexei Popogrebsky. No representative of the new Russian operator’s home school “Euro-Oscar” has not taken away, however, the fact that it was domestic operators on a regular basis (as opposed to directors) are among the best, arouses curiosity and respect.

The final part of the saga. Beautiful, but a prolonged …

No matter what I wrote about this series, all in vain. It’s like a little elf blade out a fire-breathing dragon suprotiv. For what would review here nor been published, you can still go to watch the final part. For the country, look past, do not dare to know what the outcome of a story (see below)
