Moscow. 28 Nov. INTERFAX.RU – At the auction of Russian art Christie’s auction house in London has sold almost 70% of the lots, including paintings by Konstantin Korovin, Ivan Aivazovsky, Vasily Vereshchagin, reported “Interfax” in the auction house on Monday.

“At the auction, dedicated to Russian art, has sold nearly 70% of the lots, 60% of which exceeded the pre-auction estimate. One of the top lots was the work of Konstantin Korovin “Forest stream”, which in the evaluation of 120 – 150 thousand pounds was sold for 317 thousand pounds,” – said the Director of the Department of Russian art at Christie’s in London Sarah Mansfield.

Another top lot was a landscape by Ivan Aivazovsky “Grafskaya Wharf, Sevastopol”. The work went under the hammer for 209 thousand pounds in the evaluation of 80 – 120 thousand pounds. Also one of the leaders of the auction was Vasily Vereshchagin painting “entrance to the Royal tomb”, which was sold for 112,5 thousand pounds.

Mansfield said that the auction was attended by over 200 people from 28 countries.

Week of “Russian auction” held in London November 28. Paintings, sculptures, icons, objects of decorative-applied art created by Russian masters will be auctioned off at the auction houses Sotheby’s, Christie’s, MacDougall’s and Bonhams.
