Media: wizard rock-n-roll, Leon Russell has died on 75-m to year of life – TASS

LONDON, November 13. /Offset. TASS Maxim Ryzhkov/. One of the most famous in the world masters rock-n-roll and Boogie-woogie Leon Russell, died Sunday in the capital of the U.S. state of Tennessee Nashville, at the age of 74 years. This was reported on the website of the London newspaper The Independent.

“His wife (the widow) said that he died in my sleep,” – said the publication with reference to the information posted on the personal website of a musician.

Russell was a famous composer, singer and pianist, whose music was imbued with an amazing synthesis of music in the style of gospel, Blues, Boogie-woogie, rock-n-roll, southern rock and country.

Leon Russell gained worldwide recognition in the circles of the world elite of rock-n-roll after the release of the single “A Song for You” (1971) and the album Carney (1972). At different times, the musician collaborated with such artists as Joe Cocker, Eric Clapton, Mick Jagger, Ringo Starr and Bob Dylan. In 1977 he received a Grammy for the song This Masquerade. The last album Leon Russell The Union was released in the year 2010, some songs was written in collaboration with Elton John, who was always called Russell his idol, and poet Bernie Taupin.
