In a two-bedroom apartment located on the first floor of the house 35A, Mikhail Bulgakov lived from August 1927 to February 1934. It was there that he wrote his famous novel “Master and Margarita”, as well as such works as “Run” and “Servitude of hypocrites”. The entire first floor has recently been transferred to the Museum M. A. Bulgakov. The total area to be restored, is 235 square meters.

As told to “MK” Director of the Museum. Bulgakov Peter Mansilla Cruz, the room in which he once lived and worked the writer, now in very poor condition. Until autumn 2015 the apartment was occupied by the DES. There were still Elevator operators, mechanics and other employees of the municipal services.

- At the moment this is a very complicated restoration project – said Mansilla Cruz. – It’s unlikely we will strive to recover everything as it was in the 30-ies. We need to recreate the look of the apartment, not the apartment itself. In the Museum on Bolshaya Pirogovskaya will be memorial and temporary exhibitions. Will fully restore the office of Bulgakov, where visitors can feel the atmosphere where the writer created his great works.

it is Worth noting that in a two-bedroom apartment Bulgakov lived with his second wife Lyubov Belozerskaya. The future exposition of a Museum will tell not only about the writer and his famous works created in the walls of the apartment, but his second wife, who played a prominent role in the work of her husband. It was her stories about emigration and emigrants as a source of inspiration for the creation of the play “Running”.

this year other Belozerskaya Bulgakov Museum received the most valuable exhibit — a suitcase of love of E., with whom she traveled in exile in cities such as Istanbul, Paris and Berlin.

This suitcase as a reminder of the failed emigrant fate of Bulgakov, who for objective reasons could not travel abroad, – said the Director of the Museum. – The suitcase is one of the most striking exhibits of the future exposition.
