John Lennon’s killer is freed early – Mail.Ru

Board of Parole in the United States for the eighth time rejected the application assassin of John Lennon – Mark David Chapman, RIA Novosti reported with reference to the publication New York Daily News.


 

«There is a possibility that you (Chapman) will not be able to live and remain at liberty without again violating the law,” – said in the conclusion of the commission.


 

Again, to petition for the release of Chapman could only two years later.


 

Eighth December 1980 criminal shot five times in the back of the iconic musician, when he and his wife Yoko Ono returned from a recording studio Hit Factory. After 25 minutes, Lennon was pronounced dead from loss of blood. Chapman did not try to escape from the crime scene, the police found him in the same place for reading “The Catcher in the Rye” Jerome Salinger. Until the planned murder, he tried several times to commit suicide and was being treated for depression. In addition, Chapman admitted that he was plotting to assassinate Elizabeth Taylor and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.


 

According to the court the killer found sane and sentenced to life in prison with the right to petitioning for parole after 20 years.
