Missing about 90 years ago, the Hungarian avant-garde painting of Robert Beren accidentally discovered in the 1999 film “Stuart Little” – behind the actor Hugh Laurie.
Hungarian art Gergely Barki noticed a picture disappeared in 2009, when I watched the film with his daughter. Despite the fact that earlier Barki only saw a faded black-and-white photo from the exhibition,
among cinematic props in several frames, he immediately recognized the “sleeping woman with a black vase”, whose fate remained unknown since 1928.

For a long time it was not known exactly how the Hungarian avant-garde painting got into film. Robert Beren was the leader of the Hungarian avant-garde “Group of Eight “, which included the best representatives of cubism and expressionism in this country. Artist fled to Berlin in 1920 after the creation of a set of posters for the Hungarian communist revolution in 1919.
