RIO: children’s burial of the remains of Nicholas II in St. Petersburg logical – RIA Novosti

The burial of the remains of Tsarevich Alexei and Grand Duchess Maria Romanov Peter and Paul Cathedral in St. Petersburg, it would be logical, because there are buried other members of the royal family, said the executive secretary Russian Historical Society (RIO) Andrei Petrov.

Earlier, the press service of the government of the Russian Federation said that an interdepartmental working group on issues related to the investigation and disposal are in the State Archives of the Russian Federation remains of Crown Prince Alexei and Grand Duchess Maria Romanov offered to bury them in the Peter and Paul Cathedral in St. Petersburg on October 18.

According to him, representatives of the RIO are involved in the work of the interdepartmental group.

“I think that this reburial will promote civil reconciliation and unification of the Russian world. This is especially important, given that in 2017 we will together celebrate the centenary Russian Revolution “- said Petrov.

The last Russian Emperor Nicholas II and his family were executed in the summer of 1918 in Yekaterinburg. The remains of almost all the victims were found in July 1991 and the summer of 1998, buried in the Peter and Paul Cathedral of St. Petersburg. In 2000, the Russian Orthodox Church canonized Nicholas II and his family as a saint. In 2007, the remains were found the younger children of the emperor – Princess Maria and Tsarevich Alexei, which today are kept in the State Archive of the Russian Federation.

Earlier, Director of the State Archive of the Russian Federation Sergey Mironenko, who is also a member of the Russian Historical Society, told RIA News that does not doubt the authenticity of the found remains. In turn, the head of Andrei Rosarkhiv Artizov stressed the need to “put an end” to the case. According to the canons of Christian morality and human morality is to be completed, said Artizov.

The genetic examination confirmed the authenticity of the remains, however, the Church and the Russian Imperial House did not consider the results of studies sufficient to recognize these remains authentic.
