disaster film “Everest” Baltasar Kormakur opened the 72th Venice International Film Festival on the island of Lido.
The film tells the story of the tragedy that occurred in 1996, when several groups , to climb Mount Everest, hit the snow storm.
Icelander Kormakur, to make a film in Nepal and the legendary Italian studio Cinecitta, trying to tell this story again. The film starring Josh Brolin, Jake Gyllenhaal, Keira Knightley and Robin Wright. In wide release film will be released in September.
Russian director Alexander Sokurov, winner of the “Golden Lion” for his film “Faust”, will present at the festival his documentary “La Francophonie. The Louvre under German occupation”, co-production of France, Germany and the Netherlands.
The jury will be headed by the main contest the Mexican director Alfonso Cuarón. Winners will be announced September 12.
