In Rostov-na-Donu farewell to people’s artist of the USSR, the famous clown Oleg Popov. A memorial service is held in the circus building. To honor the memory of artist came hundreds of people: fans, colleagues, friends.
Oleg Popov died of cardiac arrest November 2, in the 87th year of life. In Rostov-on-don, he came as part of a large tour of Russia with the premiere of new show “Let there always be sunshine” (Photoblog).
In memory of the famous clown in town now will be a monument to Oleg Popov. The Governor of the Rostov region has supported this idea. “In the near future will be a competition for the best project of the monument to Popov. The place will have to determine, perhaps together with the citizens”, — told RIA Novosti Director of the Bolshoi Moscow circus on Vernadsky, people’s artist of Russia Edgard Zapashny.
After the ceremony of farewell with the artist in Rostov-on-don, the body of the deceased will be flown back to Moscow and then to Germany. The funeral will take place on 9 November in Germany, where Oleg Popov lived and worked since 1991.
