Director Nikita Mikhalkov was surprised at the performance of Konstantin Raikin at the seventh Congress of the Union of theatrical figures. He stated that he does not understand what “infringed” head “the Satyricon”

Director Nikita Mikhalkov has commented on the performance of the art Director of theatre “Satyricon” Konstantin Raikin about censorship in art. Mikhalkov stressed that many, including him, I don’t really know what captivity feels like. “Closed the performance, exhibition spilled ink <…> what is closed? Things covered in ink? Kostya Raikin has this passage: “Hurt, insulted religious feelings of believers”. And he says it quite lightly. And somebody dare to put the performance of defaming the prophet Mohammed? Why did Pussy Riot come to the temple of Christ the Savior, and not in the Central mosque in Mecca? Why are they here and not there to Express their desire for freedom? Yes, because there is terrible,” — said Mikhalkov (quoted by “RIA Novosti”).

24 Oct Raikin, speaking at the seventh Congress of the Union of theatrical figures of Russia, called “speak clearly” about the closure of a number of performances and exhibitions after the speeches, different kinds of activists, which he called “groups of outraged people.” Raikin expressed concern that the authorities do not pay attention to people who rip off exhibitions and performances. In his speech, he was referring to two incidents — closure in Moscow exhibition “Jock Sturges. Without embarrassment” and the abolition of the Opera “Jesus Christ superstar” in Omsk.
