On 88-m to year of life died a famous organist, honorary citizen of Tver Harry Grodberg – TI@ Tver information Agency

November 10, he died one of the most outstanding Russian organists, people’s artist of Russia Harry Grodberg. The musician was one of the creators of the famous Bach festival in Tver, which is now held annually in our city (since 1993). Thanks to his efforts in 1991, in the concert hall of the Tver Philharmonic society was established on the Czech firm Rieger-Kloss. Since then, there have been dozens of organ concerts, which were attended by the most famous organists of the world and, first and foremost, the Harry Grodberg. For contribution to the cultural life of the city musician 14 may 2005 was awarded the title of honorary citizen of Tver.

Harry Y. Grodberg was born in 1929 in klaipėda (Lithuania). Taking over from his teachers — A. B. Goldenweiser and A. F. Goedicke — the best traditions of piano and organ school of the Moscow Conservatory, he created his own performing style and has become a real favorite of the most demanding public in Russia and abroad.

Grodberg known including his interpretations of Bach. He is an honorary member of the Bach and Handel societies in Germany, was also part of the jury of the International Bach competition in Leipzig.

Farewell to an outstanding musician will be held in the Concert hall named after P. I. Tchaikovsky November 14 (Monday) from 10:00 to 12:00.

Harry Y. Grodberg was Born in Lithuania in 1929, in Klaipeda, in the family of designer ladies garments. Since 1939 he lived in Kaunas. On the first day of the war with her mother, father and brother left everything they had, and with a small suitcase went to the train station. Boarded the freight train and went to the city of Kaunas. With great adventure, they managed then to get to Russia. The train was going to Latvia, and from there walked through a former border between the Soviet Union and Latvia. There were a lot of refugees, and the family of Grodberg not missed. They went on along the border and found a place where you can go. There took the train and ended up in Russia, and soon settled in the Uzbek city of Namangan. Here Harry Grodberg studied at a music school, where he taught teachers from the Minsk Conservatory. The school had no electricity, he was practicing the piano oil lamp – a small bottle with a wick. Resulting ruined his vision.

Then he studied at the Moscow Conservatory and has absorbed all the best that could give the traditional piano and organ school.

He did not it took years to become known and famous. Already in 1955, he boldly and resolutely declares itself to be his first solo performance, and after he was immediately invited for the position of soloist of the Moscow Philharmonic. So began his path to fame. For him to open the doors of the best concert halls, he was out and on an international level through visits at music festivals abroad. He was lucky to play on one stage with world-class musicians: Evgeny Mravinsky,Kirill Kondrashin, Mstislav Rostropovich, O. Kagan, and others.

His concerts in Germany, Austria, the USA is always held in crowded halls. He created a new organ of civilization in Russia. After the war in our country was only seven bodies. Today there are over seventy.
