Ukraine asked Interpol to declare “Scythian gold” in the international wanted list – Interfax

Moscow. 2 Dec. INTERFAX.RU – the Pechersk district court of Kyiv seized the Museum exhibits of the exhibition “Crimea – Golden island in the Black sea”, located in the Allard Pierson Museum of the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands, the decision of the court is directed to Interpol.

“At the request of the Prosecutor’s definition of the Pechersk district court of Kyiv in the Museum exhibits seized. The ruling of the investigating judge forwarded to Interpol to ensure the international investigation of seized assets”, – is told in the message a press-services of Prosecutor’s office of Crimea remaining with the Ukrainian Prosecutor’s office after the annexation of Crimea to Russia.

the Exhibition “Crimea – Golden island in the Black sea” in the Allard Pierson Museum was formed from collections of five museums, one of which is located in Kiev and four in Crimea. Since the Netherlands did not recognize the annexation of Crimea to Russia, which took place after the exhibition opening, the question arose of whom to return the collection.

10 Sep 2014 the Ministry of culture of the Russian Federation stated that the exhibits of Scythian gold from the museums of Kiev returned to Kyiv, the objects from the Crimean museums remain in Holland after a joint exhibition in the Amsterdam Museum.

In the court of Amsterdam on January 21 held the first formal meeting within the framework of the judicial process by which the museums of the Crimea, which became Russian and demanded to return a collection of Scythian jewelry.

At the same time, Ukraine said that “the exhibits may not be returned to the occupied territory, which is temporarily not under Ukrainian control, they must be passed directly to the state of Ukraine”.

the decision of the court of Amsterdam on “Scythian gold” is expected in mid-December.

“on December 14 we will receive the decision of the District court (Amsterdam – if). No matter what it will be, we understand that it’s only the middle of our journey. The dispute is not decided in December. Of course, this is a landmark decision because it will show the validity of the Dutch court”, – said the first Deputy Minister of culture of Ukraine Svetlana Fomenko December 1, at a press conference in Kiev.
