Fire and Sun – Herald

In the box “Mad Max: Fury Road” – the new head of the post-apocalyptic adventure road warrior, a deafening blockbuster with Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron and a strong retro flavor.

After a nuclear war and a series of cataclysms of the human race surviving remnants predictably plunged into the New Stone Age. Earthlings were divided into tribes and began using brutal means of modernized car to fight for the two main resource – water and fuel. Max Rokatanski, ex-cop and now lived on the tramp, is captured by the leader of the dominant tribe, nicknamed Joe nonmortal. Now Max shines agonizing death as a carcass – the source of the blood that fuels during the cannibalistic Safari Joe fighters. The chance of survival hero gives tandem suddenly emerged from obedience to the leader of a warrior Furioso, fled to the harem of the manor in search of semi-mythical land of Green.

The first half hour “Road rage” – pure adrenaline, a perfect attraction, next to which any roller coaster will seem no more than a sleepy ride on a country road.

In the vast Australian desert to meet a giant sandstorm carry several trucks loaded with thugs, military drummers and a guitarist flamethrower. People are literally dying for the metal, the main character in a muzzle hanging on the bumper of one of the fancy car, the heroine Charlize Theron frantically rushing Into the Storm … This is a case when the film need only look at the giant screen IMAX and 3D-glasses, and not sparing of others health.

George Miller, author of the original and all subsequent “Mad Max” (as well as “Babe” and the cartoon “Happy Feet”), said that his goal was to make the most visual picture, with a minimum of dialogue.

And how lovingly thought out the details of each costume, how carefully built each frame, is truly breathtaking.

Also, Miller still since the first film (released, we recall, in 1979) insists that the basis of his saga about a lonely warrior westerns and samurai movies, and “The Hero with a Thousand Faces,” Joseph Campbell – fundamental work on the study of the heroic archetype in world culture . Film for the film Miller cleared his hero from unnecessary connotations – past, attachments, ambitious motivations. This time, he delivered him even from nature. Brilliant actor Tom Hardy spends the entire film with one face, and speaks mainly interjections. Thus Hardy does not have a purely human depth and charisma of the first “Max” Mel Gibson, but because it looks clean function (or mystical spirit of revenge), but certainly not the messiah in black leather, which saw their hero future author of “Braveheart.”

As a result of such utilitarian title character in the foreground comes out naturally shaved heroine Charlize Theron, who replays, not only your partner but also for all other partners, although from the remarks she was lucky not much more than Hardy.

However, it should be the last boring to talk about the quality of the dialogue in the film about how iron grinds and melts under the fire and desert sun,

– conversations are needed only for respite between epic chases, none of which, however, does not exceed the first. And that’s just really strange experienced director Miller, though Dorval to large budgets are new, open all the cards in the first quarter of the film, and all the rest of the time just exactly as possible keeps the momentum, rather than to build momentum.

There are several reasons. Firstly, the intensity and dynamics of the “Road rage” such that other viewers increasing revolutions might not survive. And secondly, restarted “Mad Max” is, despite all its advantages, looks more work on the bugs, improved and supplemented version of the second film of the franchise (“The Road Warrior”). Miller then really ahead of its time, and today’s technology just reached the necessary to achieve its ambition level. This film tells the intention, which was to become a new word in the film, an unexpected but charming retroeffekt that in a cynical age of “Transformers” deserves all sympathy.
