The director of the film “The Battle of Sebastopol,” Sergei Mokritsky told “Gazeta.ru” a version of the multi-picture that May 9 will show the first channel.
9 May the First Channel will show the four-part film version of Sergei Mokritskiy “The Battle of Sebastopol,” which tells the story of the famous woman sniper Lyudmila Pavlichenko (Julia played her role Peresild) during the Great Patriotic War, it destroyed 309 enemy fighters and made friends with the wife of the president of the United States Eleanor Roosevelt . – What is different from the film series, which storylines you have developed?
– Differences few. The first – in the series, we detailed how Lyudmila Pavlichenko became a woman that changed the course of history. In the film, she meets with the President of the United States; in serial version, this meeting takes place – and Franklin Roosevelt, seeing a defenseless little girl decides to break the pre-election promise to open a second front.
In addition, shows the development of their friendship with Eleanor Roosevelt – in movies is observed not as detailed as in the series.
Third that we showed in the series in more detail, it is the theme of “Women and War”. Great Patriotic War took place 800 thousand. Women, and they said that the most difficult thing was not to fight with the Germans, and to overcome everyday difficulties.

– I was brought up in the Soviet cinema, the so-called “old school” and I’m in rhythm, tempo closer to a serial version. She no longer mine, is more consistent with my understanding of how to develop the event. I want no faster clip editing, and I want to admire the actor, his reaction, I want to see the finish after the scene, scenery, watch the singing crickets. It’s all there in the series.
– Critics have noted that your film is similar to the Soviet. How do you feel about this characteristic?
– I was so taught at VGIK great master Halperin, who directed “tractor drivers”. He said that the main thing in the frame – a man and his reaction, and the event – just a background for the human. So “The Battle of Sevastopol” – the film is not about war, and about the girl in the war. I just accused that this war was a great background. But for Tolstoy’s War of 1812 it was also a backdrop for people. War can not be a top, then get some bad action movie. The main thing – a man with his reactions, suffering, love and hate.
– It is difficult to name a bad war film of the Soviet period …
– Yes. His role in this was played by the trench prose – Nekrasov, Baklanov, Grossman. I read somewhere about how during the bombing of a mouse jumped out and began to pace the dugout – that’s where the truth of the war. Or so I read the memoirs of a woman who asked that the worst thing in the war, responded that her haunted by the fear that if killed, then everyone will see her satin shorts for men, because it was not lingerie. That’s her whole war care – and this is some other war. I do not desire to exploit, and the usual underwear. That’s what I understand, that’s how I feel.
– Is it important in war films to be precise in the details, and the details – or something you can do?
– But it is impossible to do. The first version of the script was written in violation of the truth, and he could not develop, he was dead – touch a word, and everything collapses. Just because a foundation lay lie. And then we started to do the second option, which was based on the book by Lyudmila Pavlichenko “heroic true story.” It is tough and scary books, despite the fact that it passed the Soviet editing. We also used the archival materials from the museum in Sevastopol, and also met with people who personally know our heroine, who told us what it was. It is believed that this figure is exaggerated, like the Stalinist myth Stakhanov, and she did not kill anyone – too monstrous and fantastic it seems to result. – The picture is different from your history of American sniper in Clint Eastwood’s “Sniper»?
– This picture, of course, can be compared: here and there It describes the sniper. But the American Sniper is a war in a foreign land, for him the war – circuit trips. Cruel, terrible, but still only trips. Hence, all the stresses posed by telephone, the inability to return to civilian life – even after Remarque described such people as the lost generation.

– «The Battle of Sevastopol” – the latter currently a joint Russian-Ukrainian project …
– I have a very strange situation. Half of his life in Ukraine, and the other half – in Russia, I ethnic Ukrainians, and it helped to bring the film to the end. My relatives live there, and, of course, I am against what is happening there. I went on the “Maidan”, saw the crumbling family ties and quarreling people. And I do not know how I will go to the grave to my mother in the Zhytomyr region on the Schengen visa – this is all new to me. And that’s why my film itself received a powerful pacifist glow.
– A cooperation prospects at least in film are, in your opinion?
– Sooner or later we have to start to be friends again, and here’s why: “The Battle of Sebastopol,” removed a joint team during a very tense relations between our countries – and we have to finish this movie, we have no change has been postponed or canceled. And that means that we can work together – that this small group of 60 people has shown that we can make common cause.

And I am very happy that at the time until the last film, we become united and react to what is happening on the screen the same way.
