Photojournalist of Moscow Sergey Ponomarev won the Pulitzer Prize for his reportage photographs for the publication The New York Times.
He was awarded an equal footing with colleagues working for the NYT: Mauricio Lima, Tyler Hicks and Daniel Etter. Won photos highlighting the refugee problem.
Sergey Ponomarev graduated from Moscow State University, his collaboration with The New York Times began in 2012. Prior to that, the journalist worked for the Moscow bureau of Associated Press.
The award also received the novel “sympathizers” Viet Tan Nguyen and photographers Thomson Reuters agency.
