Musical “Hamilton” (Hamilton) of the first US Treasury Secretary Alexander Hamilton in the formulation of Lin-Manuel Miranda won the American theatrical award “Tony” in the greatest number of nominations. The award ceremony takes place on Sunday evening on the stage of New York’s theater “Beacon”.
“Hamilton” was awarded the trophy in seven categories, including best director, the best music, the main male performance and female roles for the best costumes and lighting. This musical was nominated for “Tony” in 16 nominations, but was unable to repeat the success of “The Producers” (The Producers, 1969), who at one time claimed 15 awards and won in the end 12 of them.
