About 30 thousand residents of Leningrad region celebrated the Day of Russia – RIA Novosti

St. Petersburg, June 12 – RIA Novosti. Nearly 30 thousand residents of Leningrad region took part in the festivities in honor of the Day of Russia, the press service of the region.

“Leningrad region scale notes are identical and the main national holiday – Russia Day. The celebrations in the 19 cities and towns in the region attended by about 30 thousand people, “- said in a statement.

The interim head of the 47th region Alexander Drozdenko took part in the celebration of the Day of Russia in Kingisepp. At noon, the sound of the national anthem of the city raised the flag of the Russian Federation – at the same time the flags were raised in all other areas of the region.

“Today, the 25th time Russia celebrates its independence. I am pleased to be in this day their mother Kingisepp, to communicate with its citizens. We are proud to say, “I – Russian,” and pride associated with sport and the success of our country, with the return of ancient Russian territories, recent economic achievements and our economic independence “- said Drozdenko.

The massive event held today in all areas of the Leningrad region – the first ceremony of passports, youth events, sporting events, concerts, parades and festivals.

In the central city and town squares, streets volunteers handing out leaflets with the text of the anthem of Russia and tape colors of the Russian flag – a symbol of belonging to a great power, to the history of the country.

The regional youth celebrated a national holiday flash mob “Russia – it is us.” Its participants were volunteers volunteer corps of the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

This state holiday – one of the youngest in the country. On this day, June 12, 1990 the first Congress of People’s Deputies of the RSFSR adopted the Declaration of State Sovereignty of Russia. The official name of the “Day of Russia” was assigned to the celebration in 2002. Awarding State Prize is traditionally timed to this date.
