Plato International Arts Festival opened in Voronezh – RIA Novosti

VORONEZH, June 3 – RIA Novosti. Plato Fifth International Festival of the Arts, which will be attended by musicians, theater groups, writers and artists from 24 countries, was opened in Voronezh, according to the regional government.

The International Plato Arts Festival is held in the Voronezh region in 2011. On his coming known Russian and foreign theater directors, musicians, writers, sculptors and painters. The festival is named after the writer Andrei Platonov (1899-1951), author of the novel “Chevengur” stories “pit”, “Juvenile Sea”, “Epifanskie gateways”, who was born and lived in Voronezh. In the four years of the festival was visited by 150 thousand people.

“Third of June (regional governor) Alexei Gordeyev inaugurated the International Festival of Arts Plato. The ceremony was held at the State Academic Drama Theatre named Koltsov” – said in a statement.

The Governor welcomed the participants and noted that in 2015, Voronezh became the cultural capital of the CIS, including through Plato festival. “We have an army of fans: people are snapping up tickets for the three months and look forward to this wonderful event. It’s especially pleasing that we go to visitors from neighboring regions and even from the capital to see the shows and visit the exhibitions” – said Gordeyev.

The first theatrical event of the festival was the play “Diary of a Madman” by Nikolai Gogol staged marjanishvili theater. The play was staged in collaboration with the theater Emilia Romagna Teatro Fondazione. Roles in it sang Georgian and Italian actors.

This year, the festival involves theater companies, musicians, artists and writers from 24 countries, including the CIS. The poster measures appear 32 performances, 16 concerts, eight exhibitions, a parade of street theater, film screenings, as well as the ceremony Plato Prize in literature and art.
