VIA “Singing guitar” was born in 1966 in Leningrad. Then Anatoly Vasiliev, who graduated from the conducting and choral Department of the Leningrad Conservatory, the guitarist of ensemble “Friendship”, decided to create his own group and to bring the Soviet music to the Western standards.

First, the “Singing guitar” played their music to vacationers at the black sea camp sites, and in November 1966, officially presented its programme in Mechanical Institute. The success was resounding. And two years later the ensemble released its first record.
