“Any public organization has the right to Express their opinion about the movie “Matilda”, but none of these organizations could not give their position over the Church and to associate themselves with the Russian Orthodox Church. We have repeatedly stated that any public activity should be carried out in the framework of current legislation, especially after the adoption of the law “On protection of the rights of believers”,” — said the representative of the ROC.
He added that “Matilda” could actually cause a misunderstanding among Orthodox believers.

“In our view, should be avoided distortion of historical truth, images of favorite saints and people deliberately speculate on the respectful feelings of the majority of society to the different personalities,” said Kipshidze.

“If we see the movie “Matilda”, the cinemas will burn, maybe even people will get hurt.
