Akhmatova was nominated for the Nobel prize for literature in 1966 – tvnz

In 1966, the nomination of Anna Akhmatova was nominated for the Nobel prize for literature. This became known on Monday from the published archival documents of the Swedish Academy, which are kept secret for 50 years.

Soviet poet award invited Professor of Slavic languages the University of Gothenburg Gunnar Jacobsson and Professor at Harvard University a novel Jacobson. However, on March 5, 1966 Anna Andreevna died and her candidacy to the Nobel Committee no longer considered, TASS reports.

Note that Akhmatova was first nominated for the Nobel prize for literature in 1965. But then her work had impressed members of the Swedish Academy are considerably less impressed than her fate.

Just published this year’s list of 72 names, including Vladimir Nabokov, Konstantin Paustovsky, Samuel Beckett, Louis Aragon Alberto Moravia, Jorge Luis Borges, Pablo Neruda.
