Died winner of the man Booker prize winner John Berger – Lenta.ru

English writer, critic and artist John Berger (John Peter Berger) died at 91-year life. On Monday, January 2, reported the British newspaper the Guardian.

the Data in the cause and place of death not given. As posted on Twitter by his friend Simon Macburnie (Simon McBurney), the death occurred on the morning of 2 January.

According to the publication, he lived for many years on an isolated farm in the French Alps, however recent years remained in the town of Antony, near Paris.

John Berger was born on 5 Nov 1926 in London. At first he was a painter, in the 1940s, his paintings were exhibited in several galleries in London.

Then he began to teach painting and writing critical articles that were published in the magazine New Statesmen.

he Subsequently became famous as a literary author. In 1958 he published his first novel “the Artist of our time.” In 1972, for another novel — “g” — Berger won the Booker prize. In the same year the BBC released a four-part film “the Art of seeing” on the scenario of Berger, where he criticized the traditional perception of classical art.
