Died Hollywood actress Polly Bergen – Lenta.ru

The American actress and singer Polly Bergen died in the United States on the 85-year life. This was reported on Saturday, Sept. 20, Associated Press, citing its representative Judy Katz.

Bergen died of emphysema at his home in Southbury, Connecticut, surrounded by family and friends, said a spokeswoman for the actress.

Nellie Paulina Burgin was born in 1930 in Knoxville, Tennessee. In 14 years, together with his family moved to Los Angeles, where he took up singing professionally, and then began performing on the radio, where it was noticed by Hollywood agent. In 1950, Bergin made her film debut in the movie “The deserters.” Among her other early paintings – “That’s my boy” and “puppet” (1952), starring in which performed well-known comedians Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis.

After the transition to studio MGM actress took the pseudonym Polly Bergen. In 1953 he played the role of the first plan in the film “Arena” and “Escape from Fort Bravo”. In 1957 he was awarded the “Emmy” for his portrayal of singer Helen Morgan in the television movie “Helen Morgan Story.” After that recorded several solo albums, received success.

From the mid-1950s Bergen also performed Broadway. In 1960 starred in such acclaimed films as “Cape Fear” (1962), “Kisses for My President” and “A Guide for the married man” (1967).

In 1965, the actress launched her own cosmetic line Polly Bergen Co., subsequently brought her millions of dollars. Since the early 1970s, Bergen starred mostly in television series, including her later films – “How to create the ideal” (1987) and “Cry Baby” (1990).

In the 2000s, Bergen was a performer of the role of Stella Wingfield, Lynette Scavo mother in the TV series “Desperate Housewives,” for which she was nominated for an “Emmy” and also starred in the TV series “The Sopranos».

Polly Bergen was married three times, and all her marriages ended divorce. Her second husband, theatrical agent Freddie Fields, she gave birth to a child. Two more children adopted actress.
