Declared shortlisted for the Booker Prize – BBC Russian

The organizers of the Booker Prize announced the shortlist of six works of applying for the award this year.

Among them, three are written by the British – “Jay” (J) laureth “Booker” in 2010 Howard Jacobson, the “How to be so, and others” (How To Be Both) Scottish writer Ali Smith and “Alien Life” (The Lives of Others) writer of Indian origin Nile Mukherjee.

Two books written Americans – “the revived again at a decent hour” (To Rise Again At A Decent Hour) Joshua Ferris, and “We are all absolutely beside himself” (We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves) by Karen Joy Fowler.

Another nominee became the Australian Richard Flanagan’s novel “The narrow road to the far north” (The Narrow Road To The Deep North).

Booker Prize is awarded for the best work of fiction in English. Previously, it could only claim the works of authors from the UK and the Commonwealth, but this year’s award for the first time became available and American authors.

Critics of the decision believe that American authors will dominate, especially negative impact on writers from the Commonwealth.
