Novosibirsk Theatre removed the controversial poster of “Tannhauser” – Russian newspaper

March 14 and 15 shows the opera “Tannhauser” at the Novosibirsk State Academic Opera and Ballet passed without demonstrating poster insulted believers. Instead, the scene was shown a white sheet of paper. On the eve of the show theater director Boris Mezdrich said “RG” that “changes in performance will be discussed”.

According to “RG”, the premiere of Wagner’s “Tannhauser” was held in Novosibirsk in December last year. In the director’s reading of the action moved to the present, Tannhauser “transformed” into a filmmaker who shoots controversial film about Christ. The poster for the film – a crucifix between the female legs – is shown on the stage 28 seconds, after which Tannhauser Film Festival kicked off for violation of morality. As previously explained in the theater, provocative poster needed to opera audiences understand why Tannhauser cast. White sheet of paper, as told to “RG” the audience of the play, surprised the audience even more than the picture on the controversial poster: in the room gasped.

Earlier, the prosecutor’s office of Novosibirsk tried to bring to administrative liability NGATOiB director Boris Mezdricha and director Timothy Kuljabina the willful desecration of religious symbols. March 10 World Court for the Central District of Novosibirsk has not found an administrative offense in their actions. The prosecutor’s office will appeal against the court’s decision.
