Monument to Victor Tsoi has found its place in the Novgorod region – Express-News

Yesterday, 17 October, in the town of Okulovka Novgorod region was a monument to Victor Tsoi. The monument is made of bronze, is a figure Choi with glasses sitting on a motorcycle, “Java”, with the spotlight the bike is broken.

According to the authors, Moscow sculptor Alexei Blagovestnov, the foundation of the monument was taken fragment of movie “Needle” in which rock musician played a major role.

The head of administration Okulovsky District Sergey Kuzmin linked the appearance of the monument in the city with a legend.

“Allegedly, many years ago Choi I was driving through the village Okulovka Novotroitsy Valdai region to their friends. Staying in our town late in the evening, he could not find transport and spent the night at a local hostel, “- said Kuzmin, whether the truth, whether the legend – no one knows.

The monument was erected on the forecourt. Its weight – about 700 kilograms.

At the ceremony to mark the opening of the monument Choi made Novgorod artists and a group of “Victor” from St. Petersburg. The group became famous thanks to the performance of songs Choi and manner of execution, similar to it.

The sculpture was made Blagovestnovym in 2002. While the sculptor defended a thesis at the Moscow State Academic Art Institute named after VI Surikov.

In July 2009, the sculpture installed on the Nevsky Prospect St. Petersburg, but soon it was removed because the installation has not been agreed with the city authorities.

In the future, it was assumed that the sculpture Choi will appear on the Old Arbat Street, near the “wall Choi”. However, there was no place for the monument, since, according to the Moscow City Hall, Old Arbat – a historic site, the appearance of which must be preserved.

Recall that Victor Tsoi was killed in a car crash on Aug. 15, 1990. Returning from fishing, he crashed into the bus. According to law enforcement, Choi fell asleep at the wheel.
