Lukashenko has congratulated Aleksievich to give the Nobel Prize – BBC Russian

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has congratulated the writer Svetlana Aleksievich, which on Thursday was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature.

In his congratulatory speech, the text of which posted on the official website of the president, Lukashenko said, that the creativity of the writer does not leave indifferent not only Belarusians, but also of readers around the world.

The President expressed hope that the award will serve the entire state and the Belarusian people. He added that he was glad the success Aleksievich and wished her good health, happiness and new achievements for the benefit of our dear Belarus.

Soon after the award of her award Aleksievich said it received a lot of congratulations, including from the Russian minister Culture Vladimir Medina, but the leadership of its own country and not congratulated.

The writer is known for a very critical attitude to the Belarusian authorities and Lukashenka personally. Books Aleksievich published in Russia, but did not published in his native Belarus.

The Nobel Committee announced the winner of the literature prize in 2015 in the afternoon on October 8. In its report the committee called the work Aleksievich “polyphonic prose, which is a monument to the suffering and heroism of our time”.

The very writer believes that received the award not for any particular book, and five works from the cycle “Red Man. The voices of utopia.” This includes the work “War is not a woman’s face”, “The Last Witnesses”, “Zinc Boys,” “Chernobyl Prayer” and “Time of second hand”.
