In St. Petersburg, may receive Jesus Christ monument by sculptor Zurab Tsereteli; the choice of location for the monument is difficult because of its height, he told RIA Novosti on Urban Planning and Architecture Committee (CAC) of St. Petersburg.

«It was instructed by the governor of St. Petersburg Georgy Poltavchenko against KGA consider the possibility of installing (the monument – Ed.). This issue is worked out, no decision yet “, – said the agency interlocutor.

According to the press-service of the Leningrad Region Governor Alexander Drozdenko as possible sites for the monument offered Nevsky Forest Park territory in Vsevolozhsk district and Koltushskoe hill.

It is noted that the region is ready to assume the costs for the construction of the pedestal of the statue.

Earlier, some media reported that Zurab Tsereteli suggested to the authorities in the city of St. Petersburg to establish a monument to Jesus Christ about 80 meters (33 meters – and a statue of 47 meters – a pedestal). This sculpture, according to the media, to be installed in Sochi, but could not find an appropriate site for it.

The height of one of the world’s most famous statues of Christ, established in Rio de Janeiro on Corcovado mountain, is 38 meters (including pedestal).

In 2005 Tsereteli presented the monument to Peter the Great St. Petersburg. His height – 6 meters, the pedestal height – 7 meters. Originally the sculptor insisted on the installation of the monument in the historical part of St. Petersburg, but a year later he was placed on the square in front of the hotel “Baltic” on the western edge of Vasilyevsky Island.
